KTC
SCADA Package
KTC SCADA System, developed in Dispatching
Department of Kerman Tablo Co. is the only SCADA
software produced in Iran. KTC SCADA
software package is a flexible full-featured
industrial automation product that can meet the
requirements of any enterprise’s supervisory system
in a single integrated package. It is extremely
versatile and scaleable, accommodating a broad range
of systems from a few hundred points to very large
multi-regional systems with hundreds of thousands of
points. The client-server architecture can be
configured as a single site system, or partially
distributed multi-server, multi-client systems with
extremely high availability.
Take advantage of the
following functionalities and features included in
KTC SCADA:
• Open standards
•
Versatile, scalable and flexible architecture
• Modular software
• High reliability, stability
and quality
• Systems integrity
• Multiple open hardware and
software platform support
• Redundant servers with
automatic fail over
• Redundant network data
paths and remote communications links
• Real-time databases
• SQL data interchange
•
Logic and custom control
• VB Script/J script language
support
• Trends, graphs, events and
historical archive
• Time-stamped history data
recording and trending
Some of the features of KTC
SCADA are:
Modular Structure:
To take advantage of scalability and redundancy, KTC
SCADA software is designed to be modular. Each
module or subsystem independently runs certain
controlling and monitoring tasks during system
runtime. All system data operations are handled and
controlled by subsystems. Different subsystems may
be executed on one machine or more. All
inter-subsystem communication is handled by SCADA
gate. SCADA gate is a cross platform active library
and its major task is to provide inter-Subsystem
interface by means of reliable UDP sockets through
multiple network connections. It supports detection
of network connection failure and automatically
switches the network path to the destination
subsystems. The double LAN protocol of SCADA gate
guarantees no data loss including alarms and events
in case of a network failure.
Redundancy:
Every subsystem optionally has
an identical subsystem working in parallel as a hot
standby subsystem that runs on a separate hardware.
During normal operation, standby subsystems update
their own database. As soon as the main subsystem
crashes, its mutual subsystem continues functioning
as main and the system automatically tries to
recover the failed subsystem in standby mode.
Scalability:
Each subsystem performs its own tasks independently.
As subsystems exchange data through SCADA gate, it
doesn’t matter whether they all run on one machine
or not. KTC SCADA subsystems are distributed by
function. This feature gives the system the
following capabilities:
•
Run different subsystems on arbitrary machines.
• Scale system to a desired
capacity with very little change in existing
configuration and consequently minimum expense.
•
Add new hardware as the system under control
expands.
• Extends system lifetime.
Since subsystems may run on separate machines the
system can easily grow with the needs of the
costumer.
Open System Standards and Operating Systems:
The open architecture of KTC
SCADA provides an easy access to the system, it is
designed to support Open standards such as ODBC
(open database connectivity) and OPC (OLE for
process control). Main SCADA subsystems are
available on the industry standard operating systems
such as UNIX, Solaris, Linux, Windows NT/2000/XP,
2003 operating systems over IPC, SUN, HP and other
machines. Choice of database is also open to
Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and Postgre SQL.
Standard
Development Tools:
Standard development methods,
languages and tools are used in order to provide
systems which are hardware-supplier independent and
can be easily and cost effectively ported to new
hardware platforms or operating systems. This
enables also the integration of other software in an
efficient way.
Man-Machine
Interface:
The graphical user interface
(GUI) of KTC SCADA represents one of the most
advanced SCADA operator and system manager
interfaces. To be fully compatible with open
standards, the GUI is based on Microsoft Windows, de
facto standard. User interface features can be
summarized as below:
• Multi-windowing
• Multi-monitoring
• Point and shoot capability
• High performance zooming
and panning
• Fast find capability for
searching process objects in all windows
• Minimizing and maximizing
(all Windows display features)
• Real-time multicolor Trend
drawing for analog value fluctuations
• Event viewer for both
control system and SCADA center featuring sorting
and filtering by Event Fields
• Alarm list with process
diagram connectivity
• Full WYSIWYG printing
capability (including multi-page printing) for all
process diagrams and lists as well as generating
picture files
•
Complete object library for process object
visualization with capability for designing new
object
• Group alarming
Trend:
This software is designed to
plot real-time graphs for analog points. The
operator can select one or even several analog
points (with different colors and styles) to follow
the value variations during a time period.
